The Promise of Gideon: Hurricane Katrina Prison Archive

Material Description

The bulk of the materials are the collected prisoner and incarcerated interviews and narratives. The prisoners were housed throughout Southeast Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina. These mostly hand-written materials were collected by Professor Pam Metzger and have been held in a paper archive since the Hurricane. Each interview/narrative also has an attached police report (if available) noting the circumstance of the incarceration. In addition, we have a collection of Professor Metzger's email correspondence with multiple attorneys regarding the potential legal issues of the incarcerated.
