Viewing Visalli: The Santi Visalli Photographic Collection

Material Description

In 2015, Santi Visalli donated his collection of prints, negatives, slides, ephemera and all intellectual property to CSU Channel Islands. His express goal was to share his images with the world and to ensure that his life's work would be preserved. This application represents an effort by the university to meet its commitment to Mr. Visalli. The collection consists of 100,000 photographic images in 35mm black-and white film, 35mm slides, prints, tear sheets, and a few pieces of ephemera, such as a camera owned and used by Mr. Visalli.

Geographic Scope

Mr. Visalli is a photojournalist that worked around the world, photographing hippies in San Francisco, Vietnam protesters in Washington DC, and mourners at Martin Luther King's funeral in Atlanta, Georgia . He authored five books published by Rizzoli documenting Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco New York City, and Boston.
